Gender and sexuality have always been an important part of popular music (and music in general), with issues pertaining to sexual expression, identity, and orientation implicitly or explicitly articulated through a song’s music, lyrics and visual representation.
There are already some histories of popular song and queer desire. Join us for this presentation focussed on developing a critical reading of (current) popular music from a queer theory perspective.
This session will look at how popular songs can mediate issues in gay and queer politics.
